Agave toumeyana subsp. bella is a highly ornamental, small-growing succulent prized for its exquisite, symmetrical form and dense covering of white markings. It is a subspecies of Agave toumeyana (Toumey's Agave) and is often considered one of the most beautiful of all small agaves, hence the name "bella," which means "beautiful" in Latin. Its Chinese common name, 树冰 (Shù bīng), poetically translates to "tree ice," perfectly capturing its appearance of being dusted with frost or snow.
