Product Description

Fissured Caudex & Columnar Stems

Euphorbia mlanjeana, commonly called "Volcano Euphorbia", is a rare and striking species in the Euphorbiaceae family endemic to the volcanic slopes of Mount Mlanje in Malawi. Its most notable characteristic is its impressive caudex: a thick, fleshy tuber that develops deep, volcanic-like fissures as it matures, creating a rugged, textured appearance reminiscent of volcanic rock. From this sturdy, fissured base emerge several upright, columnar stems that grow vertically, forming a compact yet dramatic silhouette. The stems are a glossy green to blue-green color, with small, scale-like leaves that cluster near the stem tips, adding a subtle lushness to its otherwise bold, volcanic-inspired form.
