Key Characteristics

Origin:
Native to the Western Cape Province of South Africa, adapted to dry, rocky slopes and semi-desert fynbos habitats with seasonal Mediterranean rainfall and well-drained soils.
Growth:
Develops a fast-growing fleshy root system (hence "快根") and short, compact stems forming rosettes. Leaves are thick, succulent, obovate to spoon-shaped (1-2 inches/2.5-5cm long), bright green with red-tinged edges, clustered densely in莲座状 (rosette) form for a lush, low-growing appearance.
Flowers:
Blooms in spring to early summer, producing vibrant pink or white, daisy-like flowers (1-1.5 inches/2.5-3.8cm wide) that open fully in sunlight. Flowers cover the rosette when in full bloom, creating a striking contrast with the green foliage and red edges.

Care Guide

Light:
Thrives in full bright sunlight (5-6 hours daily) to enhance leaf red edging and flower production. Tolerates light partial shade in extreme midday heat; indoor plants need a south-facing window for compact growth.
   Watering:
Water moderately during active growth (spring-summer)—let soil dry completely between waterings. Reduce to rare watering in winter (semi-dormancy); avoid overwatering to prevent root rot, especially in cool conditions.
    Soil & Potting:
Use ultra-well-draining mix of cactus soil + perlite + coarse sand (2:2:1 ratio). Choose a shallow, wide pot to accommodate its spreading rosette and fast-growing root system; ensure ample drainage holes.
Hardiness:
USDA zones 9-11. Tolerates brief temperatures down to 32°F (0°C); protect from frost and keep indoors in colder climates during winter.
