Propagated from premium stock, this remarkable cactus develops an upright, cylindrical to columnar body that matures to 60-100cm tall and 10-15cm in diameter—making it a standout in both indoor and outdoor displays. Its defining feature is the deep green epidermis adorned with distinct, raised white or yellowish-white龟甲状斑纹 (tortoise-shell-like markings) arranged along its 5-8 prominent, sharp-edged ribs. These markings create a striking contrast against the green base, giving the plant a decorative, "ornate" appearance that lives up to its species name "ornatum". Unlike its spineless relatives, it bears short, golden-yellow to brown spines (1-2cm long) at the areoles, adding subtle texture without compromising its elegant look.
