Gymnocalycium vatteri is a distinctive and highly sought-after cactus known for its elegant simplicity and striking single-spine appearance. Native to Argentina, this species features a solitary, globular to slightly flattened stem with a beautiful blue-green to gray-green epidermis. Its most remarkable characteristic is the unique areoles that typically produce just one central spine (occasionally two), which stands upright like a miniature ivory tusk against the smooth stem surface.
